The
Question
I
am
most
often
asked
is,
“what
is
a
bespoke
suit”.
London’s
Savile
Row
tailors
had
traditionally
restricted
the
word,
bespoke.
to
clothes
individually
patterned
that
had
been
cut
and
sewn
by
hand.
However,
the
Advertising
Standards
Authority
(ASA)
in
an
adjudication
in
June
2008,
ruled
that
it
was
legitimate
for
a
tailor
offering
clothes
cut
and
sewn
by
machine
to
refer
to
them
as
bespoke,
provided
that
they
were
made
to
the
customer’s
measurements.
In
effect
the
ASA
removed
the
historic
difference
in
tailoring
between
bespoke
and
made
to
measure.
A
Harwicks
bespoke
suit
is
made
using
British
fabric,
individually
styled,
utilising
modern
manufacturing
methods and traditional tailoring skills by a dedicated team for Harwicks the Tailors
